Remembering Debbie Crum-Johnson

Debbie dedicated countless years to the Mama Foundation, volunteering at the Dempsey Theater, house managing our productions —including Mama I Want to Sing! 40th anniversary revival, Alive and Kicking, We Are—and overseeing our bi-annual Gospel for Teens (now Mama Music Program) Benefit concerts. She continued to support our work through transitions to Bethel Gospel Assembly and remained a cherished member of our community until her passing.
Debbie’s warmth, generosity, and love for the arts will be profoundly missed.

In honor of Debbie’s life of service and love for the Mama Foundation community, her family has requested that memorial contributions may be made in her name to help carry her legacy forward.

Support Us.
The Mama Foundation for the Arts is a non-profit organization whose mission is to make a joyful noise, to uplift the Black musical treasures of gospel, jazz, and R&B, and to heal and inspire through the power of collective music making.
With your generosity, we are able to provide tuition-free programming and sustain ourselves as a Harlem legacy institution where an intergenerational and interracial community is promised to “Be Seen and Be Heard” in the fullness of their experience.
Join the Mama family today and help continue this legacy!
